Best Food to Bring for Camping

You can bring anything you like on a camping trip, as long as you are willing to carry it yourself. However, most experienced hikers know that in order to have a pleasant trip, it is important to ensure that you make the necessary preparations. Food is essential for your survival in the woods. Therefore, you should carefully think of what to pack before your trip so that you don’t go cold and hungry in the wild. Essentially, you want to bring foods that are easy to carry, and that will not spoil throughout your trip. Here are some ideas!

1. Dehydrated Food

Dehydrated food or survival food is your best solution if you want to have a warm and hearty meal during your camping adventures. Mountain House is a favourite brand for survival food as they have an extensive variety of meal kits available. Mountain House products are cooked and prepared fresh, with a final step of freeze-drying to lock in all its goodness so that the food can be preserved for an extended time. They have a variety of flavours to choose from and each flavour contains the necessary calories and nutrients that your body needs for survival in the woods. For camping, you can easily pack and transport them on your hike. After a long day of hiking, a hot and hearty meal is just the comfort food you need for the ultimate camping trip. All you need is to add hot water into the pouch, wait 10 minutes, and voila! Dinner is served. In case of emergencies like getting lost in the woods, survival food has a shelf life of up to 30 years so you don’t have to worry about it going bad.

2. Nuts, Trail Mix, Bars

Nuts pack a punch of energy and macronutrients, and both of these are essential if you want to survive in the wild. Before your trip, prepare some trail mix of nuts like Brazil nuts, pecans, macadamia, almonds, walnuts, or any of your favourite nuts so you can easily snack on them along the way. Granola bars or any energy bar is also a great alternative if you prefer snacking on something sweeter.

3. Instant Food

Instant food isn’t just met for college students, they’re also great to pack for a camping trip! Nowadays, you can find all kinds of instant food on the market like mac and cheese or even some of your favourite pasta dishes. All you need is hot water and you can have a hot meal.

4. Dried Food

Dried food is ideal for camping as you don’t have to worry about them going bad. There is also no need for any preparation and you can even just simply munch on it as you like. Examples of dried foods are such as beef jerky that is also high in protein and can satisfy hunger. Dried fruit is also good to give you a burst of energy and sugar in your diet.

5. Freeze-dried Coffee and Tea Bags

Instant coffee packets and tea bags are the perfect items to bring for the ultimate comfortable camping experience. There is nothing like sipping on a hot cup of tea after your meals or to wind down after a long day of hiking. They are easy to carry and also easy to prepare.

Camping is a fun activity to disconnect from the world and just spend time enjoying nature and company from your loved ones. However, this doesn’t mean that you need to starve yourself or worry about hunting for meals. With survival food like the Mountain House brands, you can easily pack, prepare, and enjoy a warm meal while enjoying your surrounding nature and most importantly, have a good time.
