#CCTravellers & Local Hosts for TAI – Tuscan Art Industry 2018

TAI 2018

PRATO After the incredible ‘Grand Tour’ of last year, we want to continue to explore the places of industrial archeology in Tuscany, together with TAI – Tuscan Art Industry! And this year we’ll try to involve both CCTravellers and Local Hosts. Reason why, in addition to shortly present you the program of TAI 2018 (from 20 October to 20 November), we simultaneously launch two “CALLS“: one for all the creative curious travellers of the World and another for the inhabitants of Prato who’ll want to host the #CCTravellers in their city!

TAI – Tuscan Art Industry 2018

TAI 2018, now in its fourth edition, will be held from 20 October to 20 November and it will investigate different aspects of the industrial landscape:

  • industrial ruins – where vegetation takes over architectural structures;
  • worker gardens – the lands adjacent to factories;
  • cultural villages – the new workers’ village, example: Corte Genova, artistic district of the City of Prato.

The project – curated by studio Sc17 and started in 2015 thanks to an idea by artist Chiara Bettazzi – is part of ToscanaIncontemporanea 2018.

>> OPENING | Saturday 20 October at 18.00 in Via Genova 17 – Prato, TAI 2018 opens the cultural village of Corte Genova, the artistic district of the City of Prato. All the organisations present in the court will be involved: Sc17Tribeca factory InteriorsSediciArtformsSpazio MateriaCapanno Black Out.

For the occasion, in all the external and internal spaces of the Court, there will be the vernissage of the exhibition “Industrial landscapes, ruins and worker gardens” curated by SC17 with artworks by Emanuele Becheri, Gianni Melotti, Robert Pettena, Alessio de Girolamo, Luca Pancrazzi, Loris Cecchini, Ronaldo Fiesoli, Andrea Fiesoli.

>> TOURS | Also for this edition two disused industrial buildings will be exceptionally open to the public: the former factory Banci and the Cementizia (Ex-Marchino), two architectural testimonies in which we can read the process of re-naturalisation of abandoned spaces. The visits will be guided by Giuseppe Guanci, industrial archeology historian, Dr. Andrea Vannini – Biologo ambientale e Dr. Simone Rizzuto – Biologo Nutrizionista di Komorebi – Ambiente Nutrizione Benessere.
