PARIS As soon as we have discovered the illustrations by Lapo, we fell in love with her style. Delicate and funny, kind and ironic. We wrote her and she was so generous she sent us the entire series of Paris – 25 drawings about life in the French capital – to share with you!

Lapo is a contemporary storyteller. Focusing on characters and characterization, the multi-disciplinary artist uses drawing, painting and animation to interpret experiences and the sociology of culture concerning the ways of thinking, the ways of acting and the material objects that together shape people’s way of life. Strongly influenced by traditional storytelling, the surrealist idea of automatic drawing, in which the artist attempts to disengage the conscious mind from the making process to allow the unconscious mind to direct the image making, and particularly the work of artist Paula Rego. Lapo was born in 1981 in Rio de Janeiro to Portuguese parents and in 2001 soon after finishing school at The British School of Rio de Janeiro, the artist moved to the UK to study and work. In 2007 graduating from a Masters in Communication Design at Central Saint Martins in London. Lapo currently lives and works in Lisbon.
