As a frequent visitor to Venice (first time in 1987), I often get the rhetorical comment ‘Venice? Again?!?’, followed by the questions ‘Haven’t you seen it all yet?’ or ‘Isn’t it boring to go back so often?’. The answer is simply ‘no’. There are so many things going on in Venice. There is always something to discover, whether it’s a new restaurant, an exposition, a calle (small street) that I hadn’t seen before or just the people walking. I see no reason why I should keep my insider tips to myself. I love to share my ideas and make sure everyone enjoys Venice as much as I do. Hence, starting The Venice Insider (December 2015) was a logical step. I provide insights, background information and insider tips on well-known events, on local celebrations away from the touristic scene, on the sestieri (neighbourhoods), on the history, culture and so on.
