About Rayka Kobiella
I'm a northern german-born artist and activist, balancing between traditional theater, visual & performance art. Coming from literature and anthropology my workspaces are the stage, site-specific-locations and gallery spaces. Naturally I combine my interest in other cultures by diving deep into them, so I lived in France, UK, NYC, Johannesburg and Kampala. I'm always seeking for the most coherent way to tell a story and like to utilize different artistic mediums. The idea of closeness and isolation/ understanding and misunderstanding in the private as well as in the political setting is a topic I follow in my work and culminates in community work against segregation. Loving collaborations with other artists all around the world, I'm a member of Label Gray NYC, the FREE(AK) SHOW and founder of the Performancekollektiv for Contemporary Music and movement.
