Biography
CUT – Circuito Urbano Temporaneo is an independent reality that deals with contemporary art, artistic residences, activation of urban gardens, public art and community and active citizenship projects. Founded in 2015 by Stefania Rinaldi, art historian and curator, the association is based in Prato but operates in various parts of Italy.
Philosophy
CUT – Circuito Urbano Temporaneo has as its main purpose to investigate the contemporary world through languages, with the use of the artistic medium as an engine of awareness and regeneration, of aggregation and participation. It also aims to improve the use of places, promoting moments of reflection and deepening of the codes that regulate society, with actions aimed at encouraging the growth of the collective fabric. In particular, it intends to promote the territory, enhancing its people, looking at the TRAINING OF ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP, thanks to methods linked to TEACHING OF ART and dissemination of GOOD PRACTICES, with the involvement of the realities operating in the territory in an attempt to make people understand that culture in broad sense represents the first resource for the development of the company. Cultural commitment increases the well-being of communities through the shared and participatory enhancement of identity and the wealth represented by diversity, as founding elements of any social and economic activity. Among the activities it undertakes to promote with the cultural tool the re-reading of areas in a state of non-use or abandonment and of residual spaces of a public and private nature, through the activation of educational, didactic, relationship and social inclusion processes. The cultural tool is also used to create links, collaborations and synergies with public and private entities, of different nature and at various levels, in order to dialogue and enhance their multiple actors.

Invited by CCT-SeeCity in June 2020, CUT – Circuito Urbano Temporaneo brought to Castagno its traveling project ZERO, 2 METRI² that the creator and curator Stefania Rinaldi defines as follows: “It is a small traveling space, open and dynamic, experimental and unconventional where the artist exhibits in the obligatory dimension, confronting himself with the emptiness of the possible and with whom by chance or by will will be identified as the visitor. The space enclosed in a frame is transformed into a place, a possible window, an open environment, shifting the literary sense of the terms from a purely physical logic to becoming an identity”. So the Borgo Museo 2020 summer season was inaugurated with a new work of art or rather with a new exhibition space, an experimental contemporary art project dedicated to photography, an unconventional space, an open and dynamic format.
The first photographic work that the Borgo Museo hosted thanks to this frame installed at the Pro Loco di Castagno is Grand Tour I Rovine by photographer Simone Ridi (1977). A photo that looks like a painting but is really a photograph that tells a trip to Palermo (made together with CCT-SeeCity in the summer of 2018) through a look at the contemporary ruins… This first photograph remained on display for a year, until at the Borgo Museo Festival 2021, when it was replaced by the work Fakescapes #9 by Andrea Foligni (1965). The idea is to change the photographic work every twelve months: the frame will therefore remain in the Pro Loco spaces to host a new photograph of a new artist every year.
