We invite all creative curious travellers to join this CALL for living and sharing a unique experience in Prato (Tuscany, Italy) – as our special guests: free accommodation for min 2 / max 4 nights + some local gifts and little surprises. You can come together with 1 or 2 friends, creative and curious like you, if you agree to share with them your big and cosy room/studio at Elena‘s home!

• Every day a real GOURMAND morning with the handmade biscuits by Amari, with love from Carmignano.
• Free entrance to the Museum, exhibition and events at Centro Pecci.
• The GIRA: you could drive a very special “Ape calessino” with WiFi to move and share everywhere your adventure. Attention: it’s too much FUN!
• The famous “Blue Bag” with the Biscotti di Prato alle mandorle (traditional biscuits with almonds). A sweet gift by the historical Biscottificio Antonio Mattei (since 1858).

WHO

This CALL is for writers, photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, artists (of any kind: street art, music, etc…) who love being surprised while they explore the world – with curious eyes and creative minds – in search of details that make the difference… Because different is beautiful!

WHERE

City: Prato, Tuscany, Italy.

WHEN

This CALL will be open from 16 August to 16 September 2016. > It means that you could submit your application filling out a simple FORM [here below or at this page, visible from 16 August]. > By the end of September/beginning of October, we’ll announce the selected “creative curious travellers”: the #CCTravellers2016! Our special guests, according to their proposal, will be hosted (for min 2 / max 4 nights) during this period: from 16 October to 16 December 2016.

Before your arrival to Prato, you’ll be asked to tell us a bit more about your creativity and curiosity, cultural interests and passions. This way we’ll be potentially able to provide you some specific information and related local contacts, in order also to help you in the research and development of your story… 😉

WHY

We are an open community and our dream is to tell beautiful eternal stories from every corner of the world. Creative people have a cultural awareness and an unusual sensitivity that make them see life and reality in a different way: they see those details that make the difference and – we believe – different is beautiful! Somehow, they always and wherever look for beauty. So they can help us to find it also in our cities, often made ugly and all similar by the so-called “non-places”. Why? Because we all need beauty. Humans need beauty. Isn’t it?

The City

PRATO is living a very interesting change. You can see it a little everyday, everywhere, in the old city centre such as in the suburbs and in the famous industrial district. The city is also preparing itself for the reopening of the first Italian institution dedicated to contemporary art: the “Grand Opening” of the Centro Pecci, 16 October 2016. An international event that can spread some light on not only big names but also on emerging, independent and innovative realities (those that create social bottom-up change).

Focus

The Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci is the first Italian institution which has been built from scratch to present, collect, document and promote the most advanced artistic research. Since its opening in 1988, it has produced a vast number of exhibitions and educational schemes, carried out activities of contemporary art documentation, and hosted numerous theatrical and multimedia events. It has built up a collection of over 1000 works which map artistic trends from the 60’s up to the present day: painting, sculpture, cinema and video, installations, works on paper, artist books, photographs, graphic art, applied arts and commissioned projects.

In 2016 the Centro Pecci reopens after the completion of the futuristic spaceship-shaped extension by the Rotterdam-based Indonesian architect Maurice Nio, and of the renovation of the original building designed by the Rationalist architect Italo Gamberini.

Today, in addition to approximately 4000m2 of exhibition spaces, the complex hosts the CID/Visual Arts archive and specialized library, with its heritage of 60,000 or so books and other items; the cinema–auditorium; the bookshop; the restaurant and the bistro; the open-air theatre.

This is our first “CALL for Creative Curious Travellers”.

A co-storytelling project for the promotion of Creativity, Culture, Territory. An opportunity for every creative curious traveller but also (and especially) for the city involved. A simple and flexible format that we wish to repeat in other cities and countries… for sharing beauty everywhere. 

The local CCTzens will be enthusiastic to give “secret tips” according to the different cultural interests and passions of our special guests.
