They Draw & Travel is a website where you find city maps illustrated by creative minds from around the world! Be inspired and start wander the most intriguing streets of London or New York in search of the perfect coffee; discover the most delicious vegetarian cuisines of Berlin and be careful to the tourist traps of Paris. In short, choose a city and have fun to observe it through different eyes!

ABOUT

They Draw & Travel was created by Nate Padavick and Salli Swindell, a brother and sister design and illustration team who have been working together for over 10 years as Studio SSS. They have created hundreds of magazine and book illustrations, thousands of greeting card designs, and, of course, many super cool illustrated maps! Salli lives in comfy Hudson, Ohio with her 4 crazy kitties, 2 teenage boys, and handsome husband, David. Nate lives in Bennington, Vermont with his boyfriend, Jim, and their 4 bicycles.

Nate and Salli have a passion for travel that definitely qualifies as “wanderlust”. They draw inspiration from new locales and come up with some of their best artistic creations while on the road exploring! You can see more of Nate’s work on his personal map-making site “IDrawMaps” and follow Salli on her personal blog “ManicExpresssive” – and see what Nate and Salli produce together as the design studio, Studio SSS.

They Draw & Travel is a sister site of They Draw & Cook, which contains the biggest and best collection of illustrated recipes anywhere. Nate and Salli were blown away by the creative energy artists worldwide pour into their recipe illustrations, and they realized that artists have similar passion for their favorite places to live and visit. They launched They Draw & Travel as a place for artists to express that passion, and for readers to discover their creations.

Each map is one-of-a-kind, highlighting off-the-beaten path sites and activities that are local favorites. You won’t find anything like this in a guidebook! The artists whose work you see in this website are a varied and talented bunch. Some of them are professional illustrators and practicing artists, while others are passionate doodlers and drawers, and a few have only recently begun to draw. They Draw & Travel is a treasure trove of creativity!
